Everton will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Belgian international Johan Bakayoko from Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Johan Bakayoko is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
However, the Toffees are not alone in the battle for the Overijse native, as a six-way battle for his signature has started brewing. Everton will face stiff competition from Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth for Bakayoko’s services in the summer transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano revealing RB Leipzig as his next destination.
Johan Bakayoko and his career so far
Johan Bakayoko has made considerable progress since breaking into the first-team squad at PSV Eindhoven. The 22-year-old made his senior bow for the Eredivisie giants in February 2022, and he has come leaps and bounds at the Dutch club in the last three and a half years.
The Belgian international has contributed to 55 goals in 131 appearances thus far for PSV Eindhoven by finding the back of the net 33 times and providing 22 assists. Meanwhile, Bakayoko’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Everton will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move beckons?
Everton’s interest in Johan Bakayoko is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a wide attacker this summer after choosing not to complete permanent moves for Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom. So, several candidates, including Takefusa Kubo, have emerged on Everton’s radar.
Bakayoko is also a viable target, although Everton will face stiff competition from Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig for his signature. However, the Merseyside outfit will not seal the deal for the PSV Eindhoven winger, with RB Leipzig securing the agreement to sign him from the Eredivisie giants.
RB Leipzig will fork out €22 million, including add-ons, to sign the 22-year-old Belgian winger from PSV Eindhoven. With Bakayoko on the cusp of undergoing his medical tests with the Bundesliga giants, Everton must look elsewhere for a new wide attacker.
